Last week Wineosaurus adventured into the newly renovating West Street Market core of downtown Reno and a gem of a Wine Bar (not a sales store the serves wine but a real Wine Bar that also sells wine) and had the pleasure of meeting and tasting with Rick Martinez and Samantha Reveley of West Street Wine Bar. Their format has over 50 wines by the glass and more by the bottle, served as 2.5 oz tastes or 6.0 oz glass or a bottle.The by the glass wines are fresh and kept that way by the “La Verre de Vin” wine preservation system technology. In addition they have Tasting Flights or you can create your own Flight by picking any three wines and the sum of the three taste prices is your cost. Food is available from the surrounding establishments.

With C. G. Di Arie Vineyard & Winery and it’s Winemaker Chaim Gur-Arieh. The winery is a 12,000sq.ft "World Class" facility in Amador County, California.

As a Ph.D. food scientist, C.G. Di Arie proprietor and winemaker Chaim Gur-Arieh spent over forty years in the food industry, developing products such as Capn’ Crunch, Power Bar, Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing and “pudding cups” before founding the C.G. Di Arie Winery. In 2000, Chaim and his wife Elisheva purchased a 209 acre estate in California’s Shenandoah Valley in the Sierra Foothills. Subsequently, they built a world-class winery, planted 20 acres of estate vineyards on the property and established relationships with the finestgrape growers in the region.
In his new role as Winemaker, Chaim has also developed a new technology of fermentation. He patented his newly designed “C. G. Di Arie Submerged Cap Fermentation Tank” that uses cutting edge technology to submerge the cap during the entire fermentation process, much like a “French Press” in coffee making. This approach to winemaking is “out of the box” and has resulted in creating a highly extracted, yet soft and elegant award winning wines and creating wines with robust fruit, soft tannins, elegance, balance and complexity.

In the nature of full disclosure; we drink the wines, savor the foods, and have a very good time. We also share our experiences and are not concerned with the sourcing.
